My Long Weekend

Never get sick on long weekends! I tell you (that is, if you still need telling), it's a miserable experience indeed. Up till now I had no idea what kind of sickness I experienced. It began on Wednesday with me feeling feverish. Took paracetamol and felt better, so I decided to work till past midnight, as usual. Wrong move.

About two AM I was shivering. My teeth were chattering. My partner took a glass of water and paracetamol. I gratefully drank the medicine and slept.

For a couple of days I felt weak. Tried to read books and got easily confused. Decided that Ed Greenwood's Spellfire was so-so. Ohkay, so the book featured Elminster, The Simbul, Storm Silverhand--three characters that I admire from Forgotten Realms. But still... I don't know. Maybe I'm used to reading trilogies about more skilled adventurers.

I was better on Friday, so I nagged my partner to take me to my favorite secondhand bookshop. Bought Nury Vittachi's Feng Shui Detective, third book (Alas! Indonesian version! Anybody kind enough to buy me the English version? Hehehe!), Tamara Geraldine's collection of short stories (I feel that she's still influenced by Djenar, but in the process of finding her true voice and style--she's nearly there), two Agatha Christie's (The Pale Horse and Death Comes As the End. Oh sure, I already have the latter, but it's in Indonesian, so...) and Eats, Shoots and Leaves! Hardcover version! My partner and I have been dying to buy this book. But since the new one costs around 200k rups (yikes!)... *sigh* Anyway, we got the book for 35k. And the book is in mint condition! Lucky us!

Still felt a bit weary on Saturday, but since Meta SMS me telling that Ndari was in town, about to perform in CiWalk, my spirits rose. How could we miss the chance of seeing darling ojochan performing, live? We went to CiWalk, watching Jetto perform.

Sunday is a time for rest, so the cliche says. We spent the day playing with Aza and playing Nancy Drew's game. Yep, two heads are better than one in playing this game!
