I love books. That's an understatement. I'm CRAZY about books. Given enough money and time, I'll happily saunter along the book stores for long hours. I love mistery. Fantasy. Self-help. Manga or comics. Romance. Humor. I grab whatever I fancy (as long as I have enough dough to spare, obviously). By trial and error, I've found many writers and books that I like. I devour books like a maniac. I always long for more and more. I'm a book addict. The thought of spending a month... ohkay, make it a week without buying a single book seems unbearable to me.
I have read at least 52 books in January 2006 (yes, I write all the titles down now, just for the fun of it). Admittedly, about one third of them are manga/comics. Now that I have a family of my own, I can't read as often as I used to do. Still, books have become my panacea. Whenever I'm sad, happy, moody, whatever... I just grab the right kind of book and I know I'll be okay.
My favorite books last month:
In Bahasa--Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata. Andrea wrote this book in about 3 weeks. It took longer time for me to finish it. (Please note that I finished reading Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix in 3 hours) Reading this brought vivid memories to my mind, of my childhood, the games I used to play. It was a sentimental, emotional experience for me, finishing this book.
In English--Lola Rose by Jacqueline Wilson. Wow! The characterization is splendid. The point of view truly reflects a teen in seeing "the world"!
