One Sweet Gift

Of all the gifts that we received so far, one touched me the most. It was from somebody whose name I never knew, even till now. I just knew her from her profession. She sells lamang, lupis and banana either with chocolate spread or cheese--or both.

When my mother came to her stand after I gave birth, the lady asked, "Has your daughter given birth yet?" When my mother said yes, she gave an extra banana with cheese for me, adding a prayer for me and my newborn son.

I found that extremely sweet.
